Yuangrat and Paul invite you to explore their website which includes a blog on Thai history and writing about Thailand and Southeast Asia spanning more than 40 years. You can sign up for an email news letter that will provide updates on their writing as well as links to downloads of their books and articles.

They are writing a trilogy of historical novels focused on events around the turn of the 20th century in Southern Siam. The first book, Beads on a String: A Novel of Southern Siam, was published in December 2020 and the second, Dark Karma, was released on April 27, 2024. Both books can be found on the website of River Books and on Amazon.com.

The trilogy follows members of four families as they deal with the rapid political, social, and economic changes in Siam. Love, ambition, and greed lead the main characters into bitter conflict and difficult relationships against the historically accurate backdrop of this exotic region.

Yuangrat is a former professor of political science and author of numerous articles on Thai politics. Paul is a former journalist who later served as president and executive director of the Kenan Institute Asia, a Thai development organization linked to the University of North Carolina.

In 2019 Yuangrat and Paul completed revising and re-writing Radical Thought, Thai Mind, an account of the development of leftist political thought in Thailand. The non-fiction book is available on Amazon here as either an ebook or a paperback.

Paul and Yuangrat split their time between a house in Bangkok and a cottage in the forest of Nakhon Nayok.
